Today was Audrey’s first day of Kindergarten!
She did great! She was very excited to go, but of course got nervous once we got there. We looked at her room, checked in with the teacher and then watched the other kids play. Each class had a different name tag design, so we found another… girl with the same name tag, introduced them to each other, then sent them off to play together. She checked in with us every minute or so, to make sure we weren’t leaving, but mostly was ok. The bell rang, she ran to line up on the wall and went into the classroom with the other kids just fine. of course we peeked in the window at her and she was happily sitting on the floor waiting for the teacher.

I know I know. Its been a long time since I’ve put anything up here. As she gets older, I just don’t take as many pictures and don’t have as much to share. Here are some pics from the last month:

Somehow this weekend Audrey and I got to talking about favorites. I asked her what her favorite finger was and she said her middle finger (holding it up to flip me off). I jokingly asked her if it was because that was the one she picked her nose with. In all seriousness, she said, “No, I use this one,” and held up her index finger.

Audrey’s bedtimes are usually great, so I had to share the exception to the rule that happened tonight.
I gave her the usual heads up that it was almost time to get ready for bed. Then I said, “Okay Audrey, bedtime. Let’s go brush your teeth and take your vitamin.”
Audrey- NO!
Me- “I’m going to count to 3. 1…2…3… …. Okay, let’s go. time out.” Audrey- Fine, i didn’t want to go to bed anyway!
oy! This is why I didn’t want to start 1..2..3, but m already had. I rarely use it and now see that its effectiveness is already gone.
So after her timeout, I went to get her and said her choices were to brush her teeth and have the usual bedtime, or if she didn’t do that, she’d go to bed now without singing and rocking. She refused to brush so I picked her up, kicking, and put her in her bed. I told her she had two minutes and I left the room. I went back and she was just sitting there, lower lip quivering trying not to cry. She still wouldn’t lay down, so i told her good night and turned the light off all the way. I came out to write the first half of this on FB, lol. A couple minutes later I heard little footsteps and was about to go pop her back into bed when she appeared in the hallway saying, “I’m sorry I didn’t follow directions.”
She climbed in my lap and we talked about following directions tomorrow night. We did rock for a couple minutes but no singing. Now she’s happily asleep.
